TRACIE GORDON

Hi, I'm Tracie Gordon, ALB candidate at HES, currently serving as Director of Events on HESA’s Board. I’ve spent most of my life in hospitality and project management, having worked in a number of venues between New York and South Beach for many years. Project management became a passion after a stint with a number of high end developments in Nassau, Bahamas. An avid traveler, with a desire to finish my education brought me to Harvard. Possessing a lust for life, I hope to share my experiences and spread joy to each and every person I meet. I enjoy networking and hope this quality will allow me to achieve harmony thru perseverance and dogged determination to all events. I look forward to working in politics, after graduation. I recently relocated to Cambridge and look forward to becoming active in my community. My door is always open and a phone call, text, tweet or email is always welcomed and returned. I hope to add new and exciting inclusive events for all Harvard students fostering a respect and overall cohesiveness to the student population. I enjoy a number of indoor and outdoor activities and can be seen singing OUT LOUD, even if sI am way off key! Although not elected until October 2015, I enjoy my role as Director of Events, and hope to continue to bring bigger and better events to HESA.

Your next leader should be someone who KNOWS Harvard Extension School and NOT someone who spends half the year learning the ropes. I joined Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA) in 2015 as Director of Events. I was inspired by former President Tricia Byrnes and made the move to student government. I’ve been advocating for students ever since. I also served on the founding board of the newHarvard Graduate Council as Chair of Internal Operations since September 2016. As Director of Events, I created the current version of the Dinner with the Professors, the Annual Brunch at the Annenberg, and Game Night at Queens head Pub, just to name a few. As Director of Club Affairs (2017-2018), I successfully reorganized HES Clubs, establishing eight new clubs, during my tenure. HES Clubs still relies on the principles set forth then, today.
As a Cambridge resident, my finger is on the pulse of student activity in and around Harvard Yard. I interact with the administration, students and spend time creating new relationships, across all schools for future projects, and opportunities, involving and created for the betterment of Extension Students. The past two summers, I’ve travelled to Europe attending each of HES’ Global Outreach events meeting countless students and alumni. I believe it is important for a President, who represents so many, to know as many student peers, as possible. HESA needs someone with experience, and someone who is NOT afraid to BUCK the system. I AM THAT PERSON.

My platform is based on a transparent SG, examining different initiatives concerning student advocacy and development through Mentorship programs, cross school initiatives, creating strategic partnerships through HGC, iLab Partners and more. It is my hope to serve you well.

Servant-leadership: A president for students, not of students
